About KoreaFare

A small independent site made in Seoul by someone who rides this system every day.

KoreaFare exists because visitors to Seoul kept asking the same question and getting vague answers: how much will this cost? Guidebooks give a range, map apps skip the price, and the taxi meter is a surprise at 1 a.m.

So this site does one thing: it turns the official fare tables into numbers you can budget with — in won and in dollars — before you tap your card or get in the cab.

How it stays accurate

  • Every figure is checked against the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Metro, AREX and Seoul taxi fare tables. The sources page lists them and the date of the last check (9 Oct 2026).
  • Fares in Korea change roughly once a year. When they do, the changelog records what moved.
  • Calculators give estimates. Taxi meters depend on traffic and route; subway fares depend on the exact station pair. Treat the results as close enough to plan with, not as official quotes.

Who runs it

KoreaFare is written and maintained by a Seoul resident who commutes on Line 6 and has taken more airport taxis than they'd like to admit. It is not affiliated with Seoul Metro, AREX, T-money or any transport operator. The site is free and supported by advertising; see the privacy page.
