- Nearly every taxi takes cards, and foreign Visa or Mastercard almost always go through. Keep ₩20,000 or so in cash just in case. There's no tipping.
- Hail one on the street or use Kakao T (English interface). Uber in Korea also sends the same licensed taxis.
- Incheon Airport counts as a shared zone for Seoul taxis, so a taxi registered in Seoul (서울 on the plate) doesn't add the 20% out-of-zone surcharge — one registered in Incheon does. At the airport rank, look for a Seoul plate. Add about ₩3,200 for the Yeongjong Bridge toll (₩2,000 via Incheon Bridge).
- Deluxe and jumbo taxis (black) cost about 50% more but their late-night surcharge stays at 20%.
- Fares outside Seoul (Incheon, Gyeonggi, Busan) are similar but not identical.

FAQ
How much is a taxi from Incheon Airport to Seoul?
On the meter, roughly ₩55,000–75,000 (about $40–55) to central Seoul in the daytime including the ₩3,200 bridge toll, depending on traffic, and roughly ₩75,000–90,000 after 23:00. What time is the taxi night surcharge in Seoul?
20% extra from 22:00 to 23:00 and from 02:00 to 04:00, and 40% extra from 23:00 to 02:00 in a standard taxi. Deluxe and jumbo taxis add 20% throughout. The meter switches automatically.
Do Seoul taxis accept credit cards?
Almost all do, and foreign cards usually work, including contactless. Carry some cash as a backup. There is no tipping.
Is Kakao T available in English?
Yes. Kakao T has an English interface and takes foreign credit cards for in-app payment, though some features need a Korean phone number. Uber works too and dispatches the same taxis.
