Good to know

  • Metro zones, not distance. Zone 1 covers trips up to 10 km, zone 2 anything longer. Busan Station → Haeundae is zone 2 (₩1,800). A one-day pass is ₩6,000 (metro only, unlimited); children 6–12 ride the metro free with a registered card.
  • Taxis are a little cheaper than Seoul — the same ₩4,800 start covers 2 km instead of 1.6, and the night surcharge starts an hour later (23:00): +20%, rising to +30% between midnight and 02:00. Deluxe taxis start at ₩7,500. Kakao T works here too.
  • Buses need Kakao Map or Naver Map; stops have Korean-only signs outside tourist areas. Tap your card when you board and again when you get off.
  • Gamcheon Culture Village is a short village-bus ride or a 15-minute uphill walk from Toseong station (Line 1).

FAQ

How much is the Busan subway?

₩1,600 with a transit card for zone 1 (up to 10 km) and ₩1,800 for zone 2 (longer trips) — single tickets are ₩100 more. There are only the two zones; Busan Station to Haeundae is zone 2.

Does my Seoul T-money card work in Busan?

Yes, on the metro, buses, light rail and most taxis. Top it up at any convenience store. Seoul's Climate Card pass does not work in Busan.

How do I get from Gimhae Airport to Haeundae?

Cheapest is the light rail to Sasang then Metro Line 2 to Haeundae, ₩1,800 and about 70 minutes with one change (Seomyeon is ₩1,800 too, about 35 minutes). The ₩9,500 limousine bus is easier with luggage (60–90 min to the beach). A taxi is about ₩30,000.

Are taxis in Busan cheaper than Seoul?

Slightly: the ₩4,800 flag fare covers 2 km instead of 1.6 km, and the night surcharge starts at 23:00 (+20%, or +30% between midnight and 02:00) rather than Seoul's 22:00 and 40% peak. A Busan Station → Haeundae taxi is about ₩18,000–22,000 in the daytime.
